This Class Action is brought on behalf of all persons residing in Canada. If you did not reside in Canada at the time you used the Zoom Meetings application, this Settlement does not apply to you.
If as of June 30, 2020, you had a registered Zoom Meetings user account or a paid Zoom Meetings subscription, and between April 1, 2018 and June 30, 2020 you registered, used, opened or downloaded the Zoom Meetings application, this Settlement may affect your rights.

Update September 2024: The Claim Deadline closed on July 2, 2024. The Claims Administrator has reviewed all claims to determine their validity. Persons who submitted valid claims will receive payment by Interac e-Transfer or cheque, depending on the preferred means of payment indicated on the Claim Form. Interac e-Transfer payments were sent on September 11, 2024. If you do not have auto deposit, you will need to answer a security question which you provided when you filed your claim. After 4 unsuccessful attempts your payment is locked and cannot be reissued. Cheques were issued on September 13, 2024. If you did not receive payment, your claim was rejected because the Claims Administrator determined that you did not file a valid claim.
- Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (“Zoom”) has agreed to pay the total amount of CAD$2 million in settlement of the Class Action (the “Settlement”), which alleges that Zoom (i) shared certain information with third parties and (ii) advertised Zoom Meetings as being encrypted “end-to-end” at a time when the plaintiff contends that it was not. The relevant time period for the Settlement is April 1, 2018 – June 30, 2020, as described in the Amended Notice of Civil Claim and the Settlement Agreement (the “Settled Claims”). The Settlement is a compromise of disputed claims. Zoom denies any wrongdoing and is not admitting anything.
- The Settlement is intended to resolve all claims related to the Settled Claims by providing compensation to class members and releasing Zoom from future lawsuits that relate to the Settled Claims.
- The Settlement Agreement was approved by the British Columbia Supreme Court on January 2, 2024. The Order and related documents are available under the "Documents" tab above.
Benefits available from the Settlement:
- Subscriber Claim: If you are a Class Member who paid money to Zoom for a Zoom Meetings subscription between April 1, 2018 and June 30, 2020, you are eligible to file a claim for the greater of $15 or 15% of the money you paid to Zoom for the core subscription (i.e., not including other Zoom products or add-on features) during that time. For example, if you spent $75 on a Zoom Meetings App subscription during the relevant time period, 15% of $75 is $11.25. Because $11.25 is less than $15, your claim will be treated as a claim for $15.
- Registered User Claim: If you are a Class Member who is not eligible for a Subscriber Claim and you used, opened or downloaded the Zoom Meetings Application between April 1, 2018 and June 30, 2020, you are eligible to file a claim for $15.
You must have submitted a Claim Form no later than July 2, 2024 to receive payment of money from the Settlement.
The claim deadline has now passed.
Please monitor this settlement website for timing on the distribution of settlement payments.
